UK Savings Week 2025 was a chance to shine a light on money habits, break down the stigma around debt, and encourage people to feel more confident about managing their finances.
At Debt Free Advice, we joined the national campaign by partnering with The Penny Pincher UK on a Money-Saving Diary reel and through an interview with our Managing Director on BBC London — two opportunities to share practical tips and highlight the free support available to Londoners.
Here’s a recap of what we got up to 👇
Partnering with The Penny Pincher UK
We teamed up with money-saving content creator The Penny Pincher UK to produce a Money-Saving Diary reel. Packed with practical ideas, it showed how small, everyday changes can add up to meaningful savings. This collaboration helped us reach new audiences online and share useful tips in an engaging format.
Money-Saving Tips from the Reel
- Track your spending: Keep a simple diary or app to see where your money goes each week.
- Cut small costs: Simple swaps like making coffee at home instead of buying it daily can add up.
- Meal planning: Plan meals and shop with a list to reduce food waste and unnecessary spending.
- Energy savings: Turn off appliances when not in use and switch off lights to lower bills.
Even small changes like these can make a big difference over time.
Our MD on BBC London
Our Managing Director was invited to speak with BBC London during the week, sharing expert insight into the challenges people face with saving and how services like Debt Free Advice can help.
More money-saving tips from the interview:
- Round up savings – Use banking apps that round up purchases and save the spare change.
- Check your rate – Make sure your savings account offers a good interest rate.
- Save windfalls – Put tax rebates or gift money straight into savings.
- Set goals – Label savings pots (e.g. “holiday fund”) to stay motivated.
- Tackle credit cards – Pay what you can and look for lower-rate providers.
- Seek advice on loans – A debt adviser can help you prioritise repayments.

Why It Matters and What’s Next
While UK Savings Week lasts only a few days, the issues it highlights are ongoing. Rising living costs mean many households are struggling to save, and some are facing debt for the first time. Our work during the week was about showing that:
No one should feel ashamed to seek advice.
Small steps make a difference. Even small changes can boost financial confidence.
Help is available. Our advisers are here year-round to provide free, confidential support.
UK Savings Week may be over, but the journey towards better money management continues. At Debt Free Advice, we’ll keep producing resources, sharing tips, and working with partners to ensure that everyone in London has access to the support they need.
