I have teamed up with this incredible charity to provide wholesome meals from quality surplus food they collect daily from local supermarkets.

I think we need to remember that its not just the children that are going hungry its the whole family, so I will be making savoury and sweet tray bakes for families of up to 6 people (if you have a larger family I can also accommodate).

We would like to extend our help to those children, and will provide a healthy freshly made re-heatable meal pack for those in need this half term. We also intend to do so throughout the Christmas period, if we find ourselves in the same position. It’s nothing political, but a human right which should not be denied to anyone, no matter the circumstance. Our children are our future and its only right to give them the support they need! We stand with @marcusrashford and applaud all that he has done!

This family run vegan burger restaurant in the heart of Brick Lane, will be giving free food to kids during half-term. Husband and wife owners, John and Nelly, came from families that depended on free school meals growing up and they know first-hand how much some kids really need them. After hearing the government announce they will not be providing free meals to children who need them most this half-term, they felt compelled to help families who are especially struggling due COVID-19. The kids eat free scheme at Mooshies will be running from next Tuesday 27th – Sunday 1st, 12pm – 4pm each day. Children up to the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult but adults do not have to order food to receive food for their children.

The wonderful people at Mae and Harvey on Roman Rd have said they would like to help too. Natasha who runs the café felt motivated to help when she found out how many children local to her café rely on school meals. Feeling fortunate to never have experienced going hungry as a child and knowing that she could do something, made her want to try. Mae and Harvey will be making up lunches for kids who usually have free school meals, but no proof of eligibility will be required. Children will receive a bag with a roll, fruit, snacks and a drink. Families can pick up between 12-12:30 Monday-Friday next week but please contact them 07725 757713 in advance to let them know you need one in order to ensure they have made enough for everyone.
